COCONUT MAKHANA BURFI


Needed:

finely grated coconut - 2 cups (slightly turn the grated coconut ,for a sec in a mixy)
makhana/ lotus seeds - 1 1/2 cups ( roast in 1 tsp ghee for 2 min & grind to a powder)
mithaimate - 1/2 tin
sugar - 1 cup
arrowroot powder - 1/2 cup ( this is for binding)
ghee - 1 tsp
food color -yellow - a pinch (optional)

Method:

  • in a thick bottomed pan add mithaimate & sugar.(keep in medium flame.)
  • when the sugar gets dissolved add coconut & makhana powder.
  • stir for 2-3 min & then add the arrowroot  powder.
  • stir for 5 min adding 1 tsp ghee &  color . mix well .
  • stir for another 2 min & spread this in a greased plate.
  • allow it to cool & put pieces  or make  balls.
