AVAL PORI URUNDAI

NEEDED:
aval pori - 4 cups
jaggery - 3/4 -1 cup (pahu vellam)
dry ginger powder / sukku powder - 1/4 tsp
elachi powder - 1/2 tsp
coconut- chopped to small pieces - little (2 tbsp)
ghee - 1 tsp
rice flour  for dusting

METHOD:
  • in a pan add 1/4 cup water and the jaggery .
  • ( filter the jaggery if an impurities)
  • when it is dissolved and starts boiling add coconut , dry ginger powder, elachi powder and ghee.
  • boil on a medium flame till soft ball consistency.
  • (testing: if u drop a tsp of jaggery syrup in a boel of water, it should not dissolve . it should be able to collect and make a soft ball )
  • at this stage add the aval pori in the jaggery syrup.
  • mix well so that the pori is well coated with the jaggery syrup.
  • when it is warm , dust ur hands with rice flour  r ghee and first  make rough sized balls quickly.
  • then u can shape the balls nicely.
