Batata song is a simple and easy to make konkani dish.( Potato in red chilli and tamarind gravy).
INGREDIENTS:
Potatoes - 4 , boiled
Coconut oil ( i used cooking oil) 2 tbsp

jeera - 1/2 tsp, methi seeds - 1/2 tsp
Onions - 2, chopped
Whole dry red chillies 8 or chilly powder
Tamarind -1 lemon sized ball or 1/2 cup tamarind water
Salt to taste
METHOD:

METHOD:
- Peel the boiled potatoes and cut them into cubes.
- Heat oil in a kadai and season with jeera and methi seeds.
- Add onion and sauté.
- Roast the whole red chillies and grind into a fine paste with tamarind.
- When the onions turn brown, add the ground paste and sauté.
- Add half a cup of water .
- Add salt and potato cubes and mix.
- Once the water comes to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5 min or till you get a thick gravy. garnish with corriander and Serve hot.
- ( i added little jaggery, as it was too sour)
